- July 19, 2006 - New Training Material for Reporting Federal Crimes against Children
- Memo provides details of three matters: (1) a new reporting protocol regarding federal crimes affecting children; (2) a change in the point of contact within the Archdiocese for reports under State law regarding suspected child abuse by clergy, employees or volunteers; and (3) a request that, going forward, copies of all 51A reports be forwarded to the Archdiocese (after notification to the State DSS) even if they do not relate to clergy, employees or volunteers (for example 51A reports involving allegations of child abuse by a family member).

- April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month
- April has been designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month by
presidential proclamation. The observance seeks to raise awareness
about child abuse prevention by educating individuals and communities
about how they can help prevent abuse and neglect of children.
Safe and healthy childhoods help produce confident and successful
adults. Nationwide, annual reports show that staggering numbers
of children are victims of child abuse and neglect - many at
the hands of those who are supposed to protect them.

- Deacon Rizzuto to head new child protection office
- Deacon Anthony Rizzuto has been named director of the newly
established Office of Child Advocacy, Implementation and
Oversight.
The appointment to the newly created cabinet level position
was made by Cardinal Bernard Law and is expected to be made
official this week. The office will be located at the Cardinal’s
Residence in Brighton.
